What Is a Charter?
A charter is a formal agreement between Defiant Ones Motorcycle Association, LLC (“DOMA”) that provides the training, business organization, legal and financial support, to other clubs and organizations, with the goal of encouraging clubs and organizations to align with DOMA’s mission and standards of a motorcyclist lifestyle, while incorporating the individual direction of the collective conscience of your club or organization, through the development of local Lodges. This collective joining of bringing like organizations together defining a common purpose, motorcycling, as well it brings diversification between clubs and organizations where every member is a benefactor of the work of another member. Our charters are regionally based with smaller affiliated lodges (collection of smaller clubs and organizations and groups of riders) closer to home. DOMA members comprise people from all walks of life and as an organization does not discriminate based on your organizations mission and standards. DOMA is a community of people who enjoy motorcycling and social gatherings, travel and leisure time and enjoy coming together in support of each other if only for support of another member, with which our means to an end is that each member is for all members and all members are for each member.
What Is a Lodge?
A lodge is a formal agreement between a DOMA Charter and a grouping of individual clubs or organizations or group of riders who wish to join collectively and pool their resources or of one club or organization or group of riders who has the drive necessary to go it alone, or Its just a group of people who just love to ride and want to gather regularly and sponsor events just because they like to ride. Every Lodge is responsible for the management of its collective organizations, or in the case of one organization its existing membership or in the case of just a group of people who ride its existing Group of riders; A lodge is created with the Purchase of a Lodge membership and you will be assigned a regional charter (there are 11 Charter regions Nation-wide). A lodge is a Local group of riders who share a common bond, motorcycling. The opening and closing of Lodges and providing each lodge with the material support for operating its events will be directed by the Charter in the end you make the rules. The Lodge enters into an agreement with the Charter to follow the protocols put in place by DOMA so every event is conducted in the highest of standards reflecting on DOMA and your club or organization, or group of riders, wherein your club or organization or group of riders is alleviated of legal Liability. A lodge is opened only when it has organized its first event 9 which would be just posting a Ride of your group to our Facebook page; larger events known as a Kickoff can be set up later). The first event we like to call a KICKOFF. Working closely with your local Charter will be an introduction as a member group of DOMA and it is in the Charters best interest that you succeed during a kickoff. Recognition of your group is important to us. We know the risks and pitfalls and have already perfected the issues to make your group a successful partner with DOMA. This is an opportunity for your club, organization or your group of riders to be recognized with the mission and values that DOMA supports.
What Is a Sanction?
Once a charter is certified and established in a region ( at the present time DOMA is the Charter), it is free to organize lodges ( and act like a charter). This is the process with which sanctioning is defined. Every Charter is responsible for the management of its lodges; the opening and closing of Lodges and providing each lodge with the material support for operating its events. The Lodge enters into an agreement with the Charter to follow the protocols put in place by DOMA so every event is conducted in the highest of standards reflecting on DOMA and your club or organization, wherein your club or organization is alleviated of legal Liability.
The sanction application fee is different for every event based on many factors, such as the type of event and/or the length of an event, to provide a couple of examples.
All sanction applications must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Again, your event insurance will be reflected in the fees associated with event operations and will be determined by DOMA. DOMA handles this for you.
All Post event documentation must be submitted to the Charter Office by the Lodge organizing the event for processing within 14 Days and the Charter Office must submit its documentation within 5 days of their receipt from the Lodge to DOMA. Unless the Lodge and or the Charter has requested more time for cause and it is approved by DOMA All financial disbursements will be provided through Defiant Ones Motorcycle Association and will be completed no later than 30 days after the event has finished.
