What VLT means
VLT stands for visible light transmission: the share of daylight that passes through a shield or lens. The lower the number, the darker the lens. For example, the Daytona Viper Mirror Shield is rated at 8% VLT.
Choosing a tint by light level
- S0, above 61%: very light. Overcast or foggy days, and night riding.
- S1, 42% to 60%: light. Dull, overcast and foggy days.
- S2, 12% to 41%: medium. Partly sunny days and most weather.
- S3 and S4, 0% to 11%: dark. Bright, sunny days.
Choosing a tint by time of day
- Daytime: mirror, blue, gold, rainbow, green, red or photochromic.
- Day and night: photochromic or smoke.
- Night: photochromic or clear.
Daytona snow goggle lenses (Scope and Range)
| Lens | VLT | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror | 4% | Sunny, bright days |
| Blue (mirror coated) | 15% | Partly cloudy days |
| Orange | 35% | Overcast, low light |
The Range goggle uses a spherical (rounded) lens. The Scope goggle uses a cylindrical (flatter) lens.
What REVO coating is
REVO is a multi-layer mirror coating on the outside of a lens. It cuts glare and reflections in bright light, and its mirrored finish hides your eyes from view.
